The White House is easing tariffs on some goods from Canada while placing new ones on other products, with the midterm elections approaching. The changes take effect on 30 October.

Certain machinery is among the products set to see lower duties, and carpets are among those that will face new levies, news organisations reported.

According to reports, the White House said the lower duties apply to items including plywood sheets, refrigeration equipment and some paper products, alongside certain machinery. The new levies reportedly also apply to certain valves and waste products.
