How AI is used on Ordelvio News
Every story in this section is written with AI and reviewed by a person before publication. This page explains what the AI does, what the editor does and how both are labelled.
What AI does
- An AI model scores collected items for news value and topic; the event descriptions it produces are used to group reports of the same event.
- An AI model writes each story in English from one to four named sources.
- A second AI pass checks the draft against those sources, alongside fixed automated checks of numbers, quotations, names and credits. It currently uses the same model that wrote the draft.
- When the editor asks for it, an AI model revises a draft against the checks it failed; the revised text is checked again before the editor decides.
- An AI image model generates the illustration from the story's headline and summary (with people's names taken out) and a written description of the site's illustration style.
What a person does
- Starts each run. Nothing runs on a schedule.
- Reads every draft next to its sources and check results, edits it where needed, and approves or rejects it. No story is published without that approval.
- Looks at the illustration as part of the same review.
- Handles corrections, replies and removal requests.
The editor is currently the operator of Ordelvio News; there is no separate newsroom staff. The methodology page describes each step in more detail.
How it is labelled
- Every story carries the label "Written with AI ยท reviewed and approved by an editor", which links to this page, and ends with a note that it was written with AI from the listed sources and approved by an editor.
- On these pages every illustration carries a visible "AI illustration" badge, and on the story page also a credit line that names the image model and links to this page. Where an illustration is shared or sent in a feed, its description says it is an AI illustration.
- Each story page also carries machine-readable structured data that states the text was written with AI and reviewed by an editor, and marks the illustration as AI-generated.
- Stories are published under the name Ordelvio News. No AI persona or invented reporter appears anywhere.
Illustrations
Illustrations are symbolic editorial artwork made for Ordelvio News. They are not photographs, do not show what actually happened and never depict an identifiable real person. They are generated from the story's headline and summary and from written style descriptions, not from other publishers' images. Stories about sensitive subjects get a restrained, conceptual image.
Models and limits
The text and image models are commercial AI services used through their providers' programming interfaces; which models are used can change. AI can get things wrong even after checking. If you find an error, please tell us; corrections are listed on the corrections page.
What is not done with AI
There is no chatbot, AI assistant, AI persona or personalisation on this site, and readers' behaviour is not used to choose or rank stories.
What loads on these pages
These pages are finished HTML delivered by Cloudflare, which may process IP addresses, request details and security information to deliver and protect them. They load a stylesheet and images, all from ordelvionews.com, and no scripts from other providers: their content security policy allows scripts, styles and images from ordelvionews.com and nothing else. Cloudflare Web Analytics, which the rest of the site uses as described on the About page, cannot run on these pages under that policy. There are no accounts, comments, advertising or view counts here.
