Industrial producer prices were 13.8% higher in September 2026 than a year earlier, Istat said. The domestic market drove the rise with an annual increase of 17.4%, against 4.2% in the foreign market.

From August to September, industrial producer prices went up by 2.9%. Domestic prices rose 3.6% on the month and foreign prices 0.5%.

The three months to September showed a 4.8% increase over the preceding three months. Over that period domestic prices gained 6.2% and non-domestic prices 1.1%.

Construction showed a more mixed picture. Producer prices for residential and non-residential buildings fell 0.1% from the previous month but were up 3.2% on an annual basis. For roads and railways, prices increased 0.6% on the month and 6.6% on the year.

Comparing the latest three months with the three before, construction producer prices increased by 0.7% for buildings and by 1.5% for roads and railways, the institute said.
